Condor Straps' Watch Strap Size Guide

It can be daunting trying to size a watch strap if you haven’t done so before - but we hope we can help you with this watch strap size guide. Choosing the correct watch strap is essential to keeping your watch looking its best and feeling comfortable.

The most important measurement to consider when purchasing a watch strap is the lug width, as this ensures the strap will fit the watch, but you also need to consider your wrist size so the strap fits. If you’d like to keep the same buckle as the watch strap that you're replacing, then you’ll need to know the buckle width as well.

Size Guide Intro

HOW TO CHOOSE THE RIGHT WATCH STRAP SIZE

It’s important to measure the lug width correctly and choose a watch strap that fills the gap between the lugs so that the spring bars aren’t showing. For odd sizes we recommend sizing up – for example a 22mm watch strap can fit a 21mm lug width (choose standard spring bars rather than quick release so the watch strap can be squeezed slightly when fitting).

Other measurements to consider are strap length, buckle size and strap thickness. Checking strap thickness ensures that your new watch strap matches your watch case. And, of course, you'll want to take your own personal style into consideration! Do you want a delicate, slim strap, a chunky statement piece or something in between?

Keep all that at the front of your mind, and you can maximise your watch strap's comfort and attractiveness.

THE DIFFERENT WATCH STRAP SIZING COMPONENTS

Lug width (size) (D)

Lug width is the most important measurement when choosing a watch strap. It is the measurement of the end of the strap that is attached to the case. The lug width is the interior distance between the lugs of the watch case. This measurement in mm corresponds with the sizes we offer.

Buckle width (C)

The buckle width measurement is the interior distance between the buckle frame. If you would like to keep your original buckle, the buckle width on the replacement watch strap needs to match that of your original buckle.

Point side length (B)

The point side length is the length of the long strap piece.

Buckle side length (A)

The buckle side length is the length of the short strap piece.

Strap length

The point side length combined with the buckle side length is the strap length (an example of this would be 120/80mm).

Taper to buckle

The taper to buckle measurement is the difference between the lug width and the buckle width.

OUR WATCH STRAP MEASUREMENT GUIDE

It’s really easy to measure watch straps – you can use a ruler, a watch strap measuring tool or a set of callipers. You should also be sure to measure your wrist circumference and decide how tight or loose you want your strap to be - this will help you to ensure a strap is an ideal length for you.

How to measure watch strap width

Using either a ruler, a watch strap measuring gauge or a set of callipers measure the interior distance between the watch lugs. A watch strap should fit snugly between the lugs so that the spring bars don’t show – this keeps your watch looking as stylish and feeling as comfortable as possible.

WHAT IS A WATCH LUG?

Watch lugs (or horns) are the parts of the watch case that protrude and connect the watch strap to the watch case. Most watches have a straight end fit that allows our watch straps to fit to them easily.
